meet the founder

Ashley is the visionary behind Black on State — a dynamic festival and movement rooted in creativity, culture, and community. As a multi-hyphenate creative and community organizer, she’s committed to reimagining what Black joy, artistry, and entrepreneurship look like in the heart of our cities. With a deep belief that Black voices and creativity belong in the center of influence — where the biggest decisions and deals are made — Ashley created Black on State to shift culture, challenge norms, and reclaim space.

Her work is grounded in the belief that art is not a luxury but a foundation of society — one that heals, inspires, and drives change. From activating the streets with live music and vendor markets to leading healing hikes, park gatherings, and nature-based events, Ashley’s mission is to amplify overlooked stories and make space for Black and minority people to show up fully — as creatives, thinkers, makers, and leaders.

Under Ashley’s leadership, Black on State has become a vehicle for creative change, offering year-round opportunities for wellness, expression, and collective power.

“the wellbeing of the creative community must match its drive for success.”
